Project description: A new 110 kV Marientāle substation was constructed in Bērzgale, Rēzekne Municipality, connecting one of Latvia’s first solar parks of this scale to the electricity transmission system operated by AS Augstsprieguma tīkls. The project forms part of the development of Latvia’s energy infrastructure, supporting the integration of increasing amounts of renewable electricity into the transmission grid. The solar park covers an area of 105 hectares and has an installed capacity of approximately 62.9 MWp, while its grid connection capacity is 50 MW. To feed the generated electricity into the power system, the substation is connected to the 110 kV Latgale–Kārsava transmission line No. 191. The work included the construction of the new 110 kV substation and a power transmission cable line, as well as the reconstruction of a section of the existing 110 kV overhead transmission line. A substation control building, foundations for electrical equipment and electronic communications infrastructure were also constructed. An access road and water supply and sewer connections were installed to provide the infrastructure required for the full operation of the facility. Marientāle is one of four new substations connected to Latvia’s electricity transmission grid in 2025 to support the integration of solar power plants. Firma L4 provided construction supervision for the project.
