Project description: Extensive reconstruction works have been completed on the section of the Vidzeme Highway (A2) from "Sēnītes" to Sigulda (km 39.44–46.30). This section of the road had not undergone significant renovation since its construction in the 1980s, which resulted in the surface becoming worn out, causing inconvenience for drivers and deteriorating traffic safety. During the reconstruction, the road surface structure was completely renewed on both the left and right lanes, with the structural layers of the road being rebuilt in certain areas. A cement-reinforced recycled material layer was also added throughout the entire section. To ensure a high-quality and long-lasting result, a three-layer asphalt concrete surface was applied throughout the entire section, ensuring durability and a road surface lifespan of at least 20 years. An important part of the reconstruction work was also the improvement of infrastructure. The Inčupīte and Egļupe culverts on the road were repaired, ensuring the sustainability of the drainage system and protecting the existing embankment from being washed away. Additionally, pedestrian infrastructure was significantly improved – the pedestrian tunnel in the Gauja village was renovated and enhanced, providing safer movement for the more vulnerable road users. The road section was equipped with new traffic management tools and horizontal road markings were applied.
