Project completion period: 2023.-2024.
Project description: The reconstruction of the section of the state regional motor road P117 Skrunda – Aizpute, from 14.87 km to 18.52 km, has been completed, which took place from July 2023 to August 2024. During the reconstruction, asphalt pavement recycling was carried out, a frost-resistant layer was built in certain sections, an unbound mineral base and two layers of asphalt were constructed across the entire section. To enhance safety and convenience in Kazdanga, new pedestrian infrastructure with lighting was installed, and traffic organization was improved. In the nature park area, 33 damaged and hazardous trees were cut down, and the roadside was cleared of bushes, improving visibility and ensuring safe driving conditions for road users. For more effective water drainage from the road, side ditches were excavated across the entire road section, and drainage systems were installed in certain local areas. To improve road infrastructure, new road signs, signal posts, and horizontal markings were installed along the entire section. As part of the road section reconstruction, the bridge over the Alokste River was reconstructed. This included reinforcing the structure, installing water drainage systems, applying waterproofing and protective layers, constructing asphalt pavement and a pedestrian sidewalk, as well as installing safety barriers and lighting.
