Project description: A new and modern bicycle path "Imanta – Daugavgrīva" has been completed in Riga, stretching over 12.1 km, making it the longest continuous bicycle path in the city. It offers not only a comfortable and safe transportation option for cyclists but also well-equipped rest areas and accessibility to the environment for everyone. The bicycle path starts at the intersection of Anniņmuiža and Kleistu streets and extends to Daugavgrīva Island, passing through various regions of Riga – Imanta, Lāčupe, Kleisti, Spilves pļava, Bolderāja, and Daugavgrīva. This bike path stands out with its thoughtfully designed infrastructure – benches, bike racks, and trash bins are placed along the roadside, along with rest areas where riders can stop and enjoy the surrounding environment. For the convenience of cyclists, footrests have been installed at locations where traffic lights require waiting for a green signal. Additionally, seven information boards along the route provide details about the bike path sections and nearby attractions. In the section along Lēpju Street, a traditional grey cobblestone surface has been laid, highlighted by multi-colored paving at various rest areas. In this section, fitness equipment has been installed in several locations on rubber mulch surfaces. The project included extensive construction work, including the installation of public transport stops, improvements to traffic organization, the construction of rainwater drainage systems, and lighting along the entire length of the bike path, as well as landscaping and greening of the area. Unexpectedly, ground contamination was discovered, and a polymer ribbed wall was built to separate the bike path zone from the pollution source. Additionally, restoration work was carried out in a 50-meter section before the construction of the bike path surface.
