Project description: The nearly one-kilometer-long traffic overpass is one of the most significant transport infrastructure projects in Riga, aimed at reducing traffic congestion and improving the efficiency of the city's transport system. It offers a new two-level traffic solution that facilitates the movement of both light and freight transport. The overpass consists of nine span structures, the longest of which is 35 meters wide. As part of the project, a roundabout has been constructed, featuring a unique transport hub where railway and tram lines intersect. A new bicycle and pedestrian path, "Mangaļi–Sarkandaugava," has been constructed, along with Riga's first tunnel featuring separate lanes for pedestrian and bicycle traffic. The project implemented noise reduction measures, including the installation of sound-dampening barriers and specially designed acoustic panels, as well as the replacement of windows for the owners of nearby residential buildings. The construction of the overpass also included the reconstruction of adjacent roads and the organization of engineering communications—electricity supply, lighting, rainwater drainage, water supply, electronic communication networks, and the railway and tram contact networks. During the construction, the latest technologies were used, including an prestressed reinforcement increased protection system, which was used for the first time in Latvia. This system guarantees the durability of the structure and protects it against corrosion.
